This historic cannon remains today in approximately the same place at the intersection of Stuyvesant Ave. and Elmwood Ave. Looking eastward on Stuyvesant we see on the left, a Bonnel home and on the right the Hanson Home. We can only speculate about the reason that the cannon is pointed directly at H. A. Hanson's residence.

The Meeker Inn about 1890. Established by John Meeker about 1756. It was noted for its fine ales and visits by George Washington during the American Revolution. It was torn down in November 1929 to make room for the Union Center National Bank. The inn was referred to as O'Reilly's in the early 1900's. O'Reilly's was used to symbolize the temptation of Arthur Lang, an alcoholic rehabilitating at the Self Master Colony down the street as noted in a pamphlet published by the colony.

Union Center way back when it was legal to make a left hand turn there. The Falls Building was the first "modern" building in Union Center.

Looking East on Morris Ave. showing the route 29 (route 22) bridge. The smoke stack to the right is the pump station for the water company pre Worlds Tallest Watersphere. With all of our modern improvements in safety, you can see that the risks one takes when merging onto Morris Ave. has remained about the same.
