Mayor Biertuempfel designed and helped build these playground turtles out of recycled sewer pipe in order to save the town money. These were among other playground fixtures were featured in Popular Mechanics Magazine. We understand that DPW legend Al Koenig had a big part in the design and fabrication of these turtles.
Mayor Biertuempfel designed and built some custom game boards for the Union's parks. He had his idea published in Popular Mechanics Magazine. Tips included using "white lead" to seal out moisture.
